In 2023, Securaplane Technologies, announced it is retiring all of its SD (Standard Definition) camera systems. These SD cameras were widely installed by Gulfstream during the manufacturing process of the 350, 450, 500, and 550 models and are no longer available for procurement or repair due to the obsolescence of a number of components that don’t have direct replacement. As a result, operators with SD cameras must transition to a newer solution, as repairs and replacements for the outdated systems are no longer possible.
To address this need, Securaplane has developed a CMX-HD camera series to replace the retired SD cameras. The company also obtained STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) ST04243CH to install these CMX-HD cameras on Gulfstream G350, G450, and G550 aircraft, allowing operators to retrofit their existing camera systems without significant structural work.
The CMX-HD cameras feature a lightweight design with heated sapphire glass for enhanced imaging in harsh environments during flight. They offer multiple attributes, such as in-flight entertainment, situational awareness, gear position viewing, HD-SDI 1080p resolution, and security applications.
External HD cameras and HD-VCU (High-Definition Video Control Unit) have the same footprint as the obsolete SD system, making this a streamlined solution that provides direct mechanical replacement for Securaplane SD cameras.
The Duncan Aviation Satellite facilities are currently scheduling these CMX-HD camera upgrades for Gulfstream aircraft at our shops around the United States.
