Honeywell stopped production of the RM-850 Radio Management Units (RMU) in 2006. Then on November 8, 2010, Honeywell announced there may not be enough suitable replacement parts for these RMUs to be repaired. These units are now becoming unsupportable in both exchange and repair.
The RM-855 is a form, fit, function replacement for the RM-850, but does require a connector change. No STC is required.
The following aircraft will most likely have the RM-850 RMUs currently installed:
A typical failure of the RMU is a bad CRT with missing or faded segments. This is an indication that a total screen failure is coming soon.
The Honeywell Upgrade Program provides deep discount pricing in combination with a Trade-In Credit for returned RM-850s, working or not. As a bonus, Primus II RM-855s ordered before the end of this year will carry a 3-year warranty from date of installation.
Each installed RM-855 will be covered by a two-year Honeywell warranty, if installed by an Authorized Honeywell dealer. To schedule your RMU replacement, contact Duncan Aviation Component Solutions.
