Many discussions have occurred about whether it is necessary to check cable tensions after a cable change at 600 hours, especially the wing cables on Learjet 45* aircraft and Learjet 60* aircraft.
Except for the C Inspection at 1,200 hours, there are no requirements to check cable tensions. However, some Directors Of Maintenance believe cable tensions need to be checked at the 600-hour inspection after installation.
There is a simple solution.
As the operator, if you want to have the cable tensions checked at 600 hours after installation, or any other interval for that matter, do it. So long as the appropriate inspection requirements under FAR 91.409 f (1), (2), (3), or (4) are met and not exceeded beyond the allowable tolerances.
