Clarification Regarding Cockpit Voice Recorder Image Shared by Several News Outlets

This image is the one being falsely associated with the recent Learjet accident in Philadelphia. Click image for high-res download.

Duncan Aviation and our team members express sincere sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims of the tragic aircraft accident that occurred the evening of Jan. 31, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately, given the visual nature of media sources and the fast pace involved with news reporting, an image of a cockpit voice recorder (CVR), a.k.a. the “black box”, with a Duncan Aviation repair tag has been shown in several news sources in video reports of this incident. That image does not portray the actual CVR that was installed in the aircraft involved in the accident. According to our records, Duncan Aviation has not provided maintenance or repair services to that aircraft or its operator.

Safety is paramount in all aviation activities, and business aviation has a safety record that is comparable, or even exceeds, that of commercial aviation. We were shocked to learn of this horrific event, and send condolences to all involved.
