LINCOLN, NEB. — Because Duncan Aviation shares its customers’ passion for flying, the company also shares as much information as possible with customers so they can be well-informed as well as safe as they take to the skies on their next trip.
Informing customers about the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) NextGen mandates is just one of the ways Duncan Aviation keeps its customers in the air instead of on the ground. Another way is by publishing and updating the company’s Straight Talk books on a regular basis. This new month in this brand new year, Duncan Aviation updated its Straight Talk book on Automatic Dependent Surveilance-Broadcast (ADS-B), one of the FAA’s mandated NextGen upgrades.
Originally written in February 2015 and periodically updated by a team of Duncan Aviation’s knowledgeable avionics professionals, the Straight Talk book was most recently updated in January 2018 and is intended to provide practical information about all aspects of ADS-B for the owners and operators of business jets.
The FAA’s January 1, 2020, deadline for upgrading to ADS-B-compliant equipment gets closer every day, and there are still several thousand owners and operators who need to make the necessary equipment upgrades to their aircraft. Flying without ADS-B after midnight on January 1, 2020, is going to be fraught with limitations.
Why wait and risk a potential AOG situation? Download a copy of Duncan Aviation’s ADS-B Straight Talk book (www.duncanaviation.aero/resources/straight-talk/ads-b) today or visit Duncan Aviation’s ADS-B NOW website (www.duncanaviation.aero/services/avionics-installation/adsb) to find out what you need to make sure your aircraft is in compliance with the FAA’s ADS-B mandate.
To-date, Duncan Aviation has brought more than 500 aircraft into compliance with the FAA’s ADS-B mandate. All of the Duncan Aviation full-service facilities (Battle Creek, Michigan; Lincoln, Nebraska and Provo, Utah) and every Duncan Aviation Satellite Avionics Shop throughout the country have performed installations and upgrades.
“Duncan Aviation is the industry leader when it comes to ADS-B upgrades, as we’ve done hundreds of them across all airframe types. As such, our ears are constantly listening so we can find and provide the most cost-effective solutions for these ADS-B upgrades,” says Regional Avionics Sales Manager Mark Francetic. “Equipment costs are rising, but Duncan Aviation’s innovations are helping keep costs down and in many cases, lower than our competitors. Call to find out what options are available for your aircraft.”
Additionally, the Duncan Aviation Engineering & Certification Department has been developing Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for various equipment and aircraft to give aircraft owner/operators as much choice regarding ADS-B equipment as possible. The company now holds or has access to 42 STCs for FAA-approved ADS-B solutions, which allows the company to perform upgrades on more than 100 aircraft models. In addition, Duncan Aviation is the only Rockwell Collins-authorized facility that can perform repairs and upgrades to the TDR-94 and TDR-94D transponders required to comply with the ADS-B mandate. Duncan Aviation also holds or has access to FANS solutions for 24 aircraft models. As needed, Duncan Aviation plans to seek foreign validations for the NextGen STCs the company holds.
As the final 24 months until the deadline tick down, Duncan Aviation would like to encourage its customers to schedule a time now to upgrade their aircraft for ADS-B.
To schedule a time at one of Duncan Aviation’s more than 26 Satellite Avionics Shops or Workaway Stations, call the Duncan Aviation Satellite Avionics Shop nearest you (www.duncanaviation.aero/locations/#satellites). The experienced Satellite Avionics Technicians will often perform the upgrades at customers’ hangars while the aircraft are down for maintenance, too, but call to sync schedules.
