Don’t Get Left Behind With An Outdated FMS Navigation Database

January 2019

For years, many Flight Management Systems (FMSes) required sets of floppy disks to upload navigation data every month or so. New technologies have allowed navigation data suppliers to embrace newer, faster, and more versatile data distribution methods.

Collins Aerospace and Honeywell, for instance, no longer produce or support floppy disk databases. Both companies now offer USB-based or even wireless data loading systems.

Consider updating your data loader when your aircraft is already offline getting its FAA-mandated ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) upgrade.

For questions about updating your navigation database or upgrading to ADS-B, contact any Duncan Avionics Installation Sales Rep or one of our Avionics Satellite shops.
