LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation is nearing completion on a new 36,000-square-foot Pratt & Whitney Canada DOF (Designated Overhaul Facility) for PW300 and PW500 turbofan engines. The facility's construction and strategic investments in advanced machinery are a significant expansion of the company's turbine engine capabilities, aimed at providing faster and more cost-effective services.
The new facility, designed by Tectonic Management Group and built by Hausmann Construction, is now fully enclosed with interior work underway. The space includes:
To ensure safety and efficiency, the new shop is installing 16 one- and two-ton overhead cranes to assist with the precise handling of large engine components. The facility's utility infrastructure is also being upgraded, including a larger evaporator drain pit for chemical recycling and a 12,000-gallon fuel tank with a backup system to ensure continuous test cell operation.
Duncan Aviation's engine backshops are centrally located and have been upgraded with new machinery. The new addition will house a new test cell and control room from Atec, Inc., which offers a quieter and more efficient testing environment. The new DOF is expected to be operational in November 2025, with overall project completion targeted for April 2026.
"These comprehensive in-house capabilities underscore our unwavering commitment to providing unparalleled, cost-effective, and high-quality engine maintenance services," said Doug Alleman, Vice President of Duncan Aviation's Engine Operation. "We are dedicated to maximizing aircraft performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the long-term value of our customers’ investments."
