LINCOLN, NEB — Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce that when its new paint complex in Provo, Utah, opens its hangar doors this spring, the paint team will be ready on day one with individual and team experience. Provo paint team members include more than a dozen experienced members of the paint teams from Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, Nebraska, and Battle Creek, Michigan, facilities.
“The Paint Team at our Provo facility will have an average of 5 ½ years of service on day one of operations,” says Duncan Aviation’s Paint Manager Doug Bohac. “And more than half of the new paint techs we’ve hired will have a minimum of six months to one year of training with our paint teams in Lincoln before they relocate to Provo.”
Starting a new paint shop, even within an existing company, requires a great deal of planning, and Bohac, along with Duncan Aviation Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist Jennifer Monroe have been planning and carefully recruiting new and existing team members for the Provo Paint Team for a couple of years now.
“With the backing of the Senior Management Team, we’ve committed the time and resources and assembled a strong team,” says Bohac. That team has been training and working together at the company’s Lincoln location. And since the paint facility being constructed in Provo is very similar in size and layout to the Duncan Aviation paint facilities in Lincoln and Battle Creek, the transition for the paint technicians will be seamless. “When we open the doors of the new paint hangar at our Provo facility, our customers will experience the same downtimes, quality, and culture they have come to expect from Duncan Aviation, regardless of their location.”
Designed to use the latest technology available, the new 53,000-square-foot paint facility will have down-draft air flow technology, including automatic monitoring and alarms. It is designed to accommodate multiple aircraft at once, utilizing a two-zone airflow system. Duncan Aviation paint teams will be able to perform stripping, sanding, painting and detail work on multiple aircraft simultaneously.
“This is the third paint facility Duncan Aviation has built over the last 12 years,” Bohac says. “The first expanded paint capabilities at our Battle Creek location in 2007 and the second expanded paint capability at our Lincoln facility in 2014. Each construction design is similar, but takes advantage of the latest technology and allows for tweaks to make work process even more efficient and successful.”
This additional capacity will give Duncan Aviation the capability to paint up to 225 aircraft per year, including some of the largest business aircraft in use today like the Gulfstream 550, the Bombardier Global Express and the Dassault Falcon 7X.
