Lincoln, NEB. – Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce that it has welcomed the first two business jets into the newest state-of-the-art maintenance hangars at its Lincoln, Nebraska, and Battle Creek, Michigan, MRO locations. On Monday, February 5, a GL5000 was ushered into the new Lincoln hangar and four days later, on February 9, a CL300 was pulled into the newly constructed one in Battle Creek.
Both hangar maintenance projects broke ground in 2022 and boast a spacious 46,000-square-foot maintenance hangar with 32-foot-high hangar doors alongside an additional 62,000-square-foot, two-floor addition for storage and backshops.
Duncan Aviation collaborated closely with its long-standing partner, Tectonic Management Group, leveraging the latest advancements in green construction technologies for both locations. Sustainability features include light harvesting, radiant floor heating powered by energy-efficient boilers, LED lighting fixtures equipped with sensors, and automatic dimming capabilities. These buildings and systems are engineered to surpass standard energy codes by more than 25%.
Jeff Lake, President and CEO of Duncan Aviation, says the official opening of the two maintenance hangars was necessary to stay competitive. “We did not build these hangars to gain market share, but to maintain the market share we have in a growing industry.”
Hangar capacity in the industry continues to get tighter and tighter as jets increase in size and major inspections begin coming due. Lake says that while the new hangars will give Duncan Aviation some flexibility now, they will fill up fast.
