LINCOLN, NEB. — As part of Duncan Aviation’s Pratt & Whitney Canada DOF (Designated Overhaul Facility), five Duncan Aviation engine technicians successfully completed four weeks of factory-led training on the PW308A and PW308C engines. The in-house training, conducted by specialists from Pratt & Whitney, further strengthens Duncan Aviation’s technical expertise and enhances its ability to support operators enrolled in the Duncan Aviation Service Program.
Technicians participated in the intensive training program, gaining hands-on experience with the engine’s tooling, inspection procedures, and overhaul processes. The program provided the team with a deeper understanding of the engine’s design and operational nuances, knowledge that translates directly into more efficient maintenance, faster troubleshooting, and improved reliability for customers.
“This training gave our technicians the opportunity to learn directly from factory experts and gain a deeper understanding of the PW308A/C engine,” said Brian Harms, Manager of Duncan Aviation’s Pratt & Whitney Overhaul Shop. “They became familiar with the specialized tooling and quickly picked up the engine’s unique characteristics. That knowledge allows us to organize our work more efficiently and deliver an even higher level of service to our customers.”
Immediately after completing the training, the team began applying their new skills to their first PW308A engine overhaul. Several more PW308A/C engines are scheduled for maintenance and overhaul this year.
According to Alec Pusateri, Duncan Aviation Program Engineer supporting PW300 and PW500 engines, the training provided valuable insights that will directly benefit operators.
“The Pratt & Whitney trainers shared their deep knowledge of the engine, including nuances you only learn through experience,” Pusateri said. “That kind of direct communication with the OEM strengthens our relationship and helps us better support customers by identifying reliability improvements, recommended upgrades, and components that should be replaced during every overhaul.”
The PW308 is the largest engine currently supported at Duncan Aviation’s DOF. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of the complete overhaul process, from initial disassembly to final inspection, the team is positioned to deliver more efficient maintenance events and improved turnaround times for operators.
Duncan Aviation engine technicians at the company’s MRO locations in Battle Creek, MI, and Provo, UT, are line-authorized to support Pratt & Whitney engines, providing additional service options for customers across Duncan Aviation’s nationwide network.
As Duncan Aviation continues to expand its engine overhaul capabilities, ongoing factory training ensures technicians remain closely aligned with manufacturer best practices, helping customers maximize engine performance, reliability, and operational uptime.
The Duncan Aviation Service Program, or DASP, is a comprehensive engine maintenance program for the PW308A engines designed to help reduce the risk of unexpected maintenance expenses. Backed by Duncan Aviation’s MRO facilities, parts inventory, rental engines, and experienced technicians, the program provides reliable service and support. Additional benefits include more predictable maintenance budgeting, transferability if the aircraft is sold, the option to renew the program at the end of the term, and the potential to enhance aircraft resale value.
