N1RD | The Most Intricate Paint Scheme Yet

What began as a white Citation CJ3+ with factory stripes became a 46-color, full-scale piece of flying art and the most intricate paint scheme Duncan Aviation has ever completed. As a Duncan family-owned aircraft, N1RD carried a deeply personal vision inspired by Robert and Karen Duncan’s love of art, travel, color, and creative risk. The aircraft features bold graphics, hand-laid details, eyes, flies, flowers, stencils, and layered design elements that make it impossible to ignore. The project required two years of concept development, close collaboration between Design and Paint team members, and extensive layout, masking, and sequencing to translate artwork into an airworthy finish. Completed as the first aircraft painted in Duncan Aviation’s new Lincoln paint hangar, N1RD showcases what happens when imagination, trust, and craftsmanship meet.

Hannah graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. After graduation, she worked as a Marketing Coordinator at Lincoln Surgical Hospital before starting at Duncan Aviation in March of 2022 as an Administrative Assistant in Design. She is currently a Lead Designer in Lincoln.

I love that I get the opportunity to collaborate with customers that have different design interests, says Hannah. Being able to create a space that makes them feel the most self-expressed is definitely rewarding. I enjoy getting to see each project from the very start to the very end, and working with our shops to create a truly unique custom design.
