Duncan Aviation Adds Service Bulletin Capabilities for The Honeywell SG-705 Symbol Generator

Duncan Aviation’s Avionics Component Repair & Overhaul shop has added test sets and tooling to obtain full capabilities to perform Honeywell SB (Service Bulletin) 7011672-34-0100. This SB adds moisture barrier protection to the SG-705 symbol generator and subassemblies and converts the following part numbers.

Like many other avionics components in aircraft, symbol generators are prone to corrosion due to exposure to heat and moisture. Compliance with this SB improves the reliability of the symbol generators by improving their resistance to humidity and slows down the development of corrosion. With expanded capability, Duncan Aviation can affordably and efficiently provide compliance with the SB. We encourage you to stay up-to-date on SBs as symbol generator upgrades and improvements become available.

The SG-705 symbol generators are a critical part of the avionics system. They receive heading, attitude, and short- and long-range navigation sensor and weather radar inputs. They also receive mode logic inputs from the flight guidance computer. All inputs are processed and transmitted to the electronic displays as well as the autopilot.
